A few weekends ago we got in the car for a random road trip. We headed north towards Santa Fe and ended up in an old mining town called Los Cerrillos. This was the smallest little town I have ever seen with all dirt roads. We saw a sign that said they had a petting zoo which consisted of a goat, lama and chickens.
The "ride" at the petting zoo...a saddle on a beam! YEE HAW!!
The little store at the petting zoo was more like a junk collection but the boys loved all the old fashioned tractor parts.
Every little town has it's highlights. This one happens to be that the movie 'Young Guns' was filmed here!

I tried to find out if the musical 'Wicked' was going to be at the town opera house; not so much!

This was the view down main street. We drove home around the back side of the Sandia mountains and stopped at our favorite little shop, Burger Boy and got a delicious soft serve ice cream cone. So good, it is worth the trip!

OH, that made me so homesick for New Mexico--isn't that a wonderful little church? Lots of photos of that one around the world. It's great that you are getting to see so much of the state while you are there.
