Blazing Aspens

Last Sunday we took the kids for a drive up the mountains to Kenosha Pass to enjoy the beautiful fall colors.
We got out and did a little hike which the boys always love.
Avrey on the other hand had fallen asleep on the way there and was not as thrilled to be hiking!

We packed the grill and enjoyed dinner up there as well. Beautiful it was!

Later in the week, Jeff decided to go back and take his bike up in the same area. He timed it just right as a lot of the colors were still peaking.
The Mosquito Mountain Range through a grove of Aspens.

  Above treeline and 11,000'.
At the summit of Georgia Pass along the Continental Divide. Jeff said the 3 hour climb was well worth the trip as the views were incredible. He was by himself up there, which I'm not too thrilled about, but he brought home some great photos.
Looking north on the way down.
Looking west toward the Mosquito range and Breckenridge.

We are definitely ready for fall after our record breaking summer heat, and absolutely love living within such beauty.

College Game Day

A few weeks ago Jeff and Trey were invited by a friend up to Boulder for a "CU Buffs" game. The team is pretty awful, but they couldn't pass up the chance to watch some football under a blue sky. Their tickets included a pass to go on to the field before the game, which of course, Trey loved.
Tradition follows that Ralphie the mascot runs on to the field just before the team. Trey was in hog heaven watching that thing run down the sideline, only to see the team right behind it that ended up right in front of them.

Maybe a sign of future things to come if he keeps up with his love of football...
As it went, the Buffs lost on a game winning field with two seconds left to Sacramento State. However, Trey was all smiles that he was at an actual college game, and is one of those sentimental kids that can appreciate spending the day with his dad too.

Winter Park Weekend

Even with the kids back in school it still doesn't seem like summer has come to an end. A few weekends ago we spent the weekend at Winter Park with our good friends the Smith's.
We took advantage of the beautiful weather and spent most of our time outside hiking and playing. The boys loved the railroad tracks and the frequent trains that passed by.

While we were there we also celebrated Jeff & Kaden's birthday's. Kaden chose a Ninjago theme this year and with 4 boys it was perfect. The boys enjoyed painting salt dough ninja's, playing with their lego ninjago's and watching the Ninja Turtles movie.
You can't have a birthday without a Ninjago cake made by mom!!
And the weekend was topped off with Ninjago pillow cases, and one princess pillowcase! My friend Lisa and I made these for the kids and they LOVED them!
