TIMBER

Saturday, although there were clear skies it was very windy day. So windy in fact that that afternoon the massive tree in out front yard snapped at the base and fell into our neighbors house. I heard the snapping of the roots and looked out the front window as it fell while telling the kids to get out of the living room in fear that it was going to go right on top of our house.
Luckily a few roots held on so the tree was leaning against the house instead of falling to the ground.
About 2 hours later a guy came to asses the situation but clearly did not have the equipment to deal with a tree this large. They were able to get the lowest branches removed and then had to wait till morning to figure out what to do from there.
Sunday morning another guy was able to come and literally had to take the tree apart piece by piece. He arrived at 7:30 am and didn't get the trunk of the tree to the ground until 4:00 pm.

This guy was interesting and yet very patriotic! We had to laugh a little because he had this cigar is his mouth all day and it made it almost impossible to understand anything he was saying.
We were all so intrigued to see how he was going to get it down we ended up spending most of the day out there watching him. Avrey was not a huge fan of the chainsaw!

After 9 hours of slicing and dicing we have a large stump in the middle of the lawn and enough fire wood for at least 100 camp outs!! Although we will greatly miss the shade, we don't have air conditioning, we are so grateful that no one was hurt and there was very little damage done. From what we can see our neighbors rain cutter is the only thing that got damaged.

Camp Smith

Every year the moment it starts to get warm we always start talking about going camping. The only problem in CO, it may be hot where we live but it is still pretty cold in the mountains. Luckily this past weekend our good friends the Smith's invited us camp in their backyard!
The kids were so excited to sleep in the tent!
After an amazing steak dinner, because people totally eat that when they go camping, we listened to the kids tell "scary" stories around the campfire.
Nate taught the kids about constellations.
Most people may say that sleeping in the backyard is not "rough'n" it however, when you find a snake the next morning that is rough'n it to me!

"Wicked" Awesome

Jeff and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary this week. We got all dressed up for dinner then enjoyed the musical 'Wicked'. We had amazing seats and such a wonderful time. I still can't believe how fast time fly's when you're in love

Lucky Me

Mother's Day this year was extra special. Not because of gifts or breakfast in bed but simply because I got to spend the day with my adorable kids! The older I get the more I realize the the opportunity to be a mother is a gift within itself.
Trey is my reminder each day that no matter what comes my way I just need to give it my all!
Kaden is my reminder that life is meant to be enjoyed not just endured. This little man makes me laugh until I cry!
Avrey is my reminder that it is the simple things in life that bring us the most joy!
And this is the man that made it all possible!!

Rocky Mtn. High Colorado

A few weeks ago we spent a Saturday at Rocky Mtn. National Park. Turns out it is only a 2 hour drive from us and worth every minute. It was so beautiful up there!

We went up there with some good friends from our ward and had a picnic lunch while enjoying all the open space. I think most the time we all just felt like we were on top of the world!

What a surprise when we got to see Justin Beaver...AKA: a beaver we named Justin!
We did a few kid friendly hikes that were a blast. The boys loved that there was still snow to hike on! It was such a fun day and amazingly beautiful.

Before we headed home we stopped in Estes Park for dinner. The kids thought they were so cool because they got to sit on their own table!
We also grabbed a quick picture of the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park. Do you recognize it? It's the hotel used in the movie 'Dumb & Dumber' and was the inspiration for 'The Shining'.
