Last month Jeff and Trey decided to go hike another 14er. This time the destination was Mt. Bierstadt. Since Trey had been up one last year, he fully knew what to expect, and surprised Jeff at how ready he was to tackle another. So, after rolling out of bed at 4:30 and a 90 mile drive, they arrived to this site with their mountain on the right. The ridge on the left is called the Sawtooth which can be traversed to reach Mt. Evans, another 14er, however, not in the plans for today.

The higher they climbed, the more scenery came in to view...
But, the steeper the trail became. By the end, Trey was a natural at traversing loose rocks and big boulders, as well as just getting up the regular dirt.

On the summit looking south, they could see Pikes Peak in the distance with the large smoke plumes from the Waldo Canyon fire that destroyed over 300 homes.
Gray's Peak on the left was the mountain they climbed last year.

Because the storm clouds were rolling in. This is why they got up so early, monsoons are a normal summer occurrence in the "high country." Not a great place to get stuck in a thunder storm.

Almost back to the car. Trey's pretty tuckered, but loved spending the day with his dad and was asleep not five minutes after getting in the car.

You are the man!! I don't think many 6 year olds have done what you've done. Good job to you and your Dad.
So impressed with your little hiker!! So awesome that Jeff takes him and they have that together.
