Spring Cleaning (AKA: Nesting)

Realizing last week that we are about a month away from having our little girl, I thought it was time to get some deep cleaning done. Jeff laughed at my list when he saw things like, wash baseboards, wipe down doors, and clean the blinds. I made him a deal that if he took the kids for a few hours so I could do the cleaning we would all walk away happy!
Unfortunately, we woke up to an inch of snow Saturday morning so the boys were stuck with me and the cleaning bucket!! Jeff took care of the windows.
Trey took care of wiping down all the chairs!
And Kaden mostly played while the rest of us worked!
As we were getting to the end of my list of things to clean we saw Kaden playing with Jeff's tool box. I asked him what he was doing and he said, "I'm just fixing toes mom," I wonder where he gets that from? We got a lot done and it is so nice to have an extra clean house!

Trey's Pirate Party

Okay, so Trey's 5th birthday is not for a few weeks but we figure with a new baby on the way we would do it early just in case. Trey wanted to have a Pirate party and as you can see I think he had a great time. We transformed all the kids into pirates and started with decorating our own swords.
For lunch we had Captain Corn Dogs, fishy crackers and grapes. Jeff said his voice hurt for the rest of the day after talking like a pirate for 2 hours. Trey and the kids got a kick out of it.

Opening the loot! I love Trey's face in this one, he was so excited for new pirate toys I thought he was going to start crying tears of joy!

All the kids so excited to see the new pirates; we had to open it right then!
At the end we took the kids on an indoor treasure hunt since it was cold. They all had their swords and pirate hats looking for treasure. Back in the kitchen, golden necklaces and the treasure chest cake awaited them.
An up close look at the treasure cake. The words you are looking for are, Wow, Awesome, and coolest mom ever!! Trey told me a few weeks ago he wanted the 'Cake Boss' on TLC to do his cake so I knew he had high expectations. I think it turned out pretty good!
The birthday boy had such a great party!

Random Road Trip

A few weekends ago we got in the car for a random road trip. We headed north towards Santa Fe and ended up in an old mining town called Los Cerrillos. This was the smallest little town I have ever seen with all dirt roads. We saw a sign that said they had a petting zoo which consisted of a goat, lama and chickens.

The "ride" at the petting zoo...a saddle on a beam! YEE HAW!!
The little store at the petting zoo was more like a junk collection but the boys loved all the old fashioned tractor parts.

Every little town has it's highlights. This one happens to be that the movie 'Young Guns' was filmed here!
The old Church
I tried to find out if the musical 'Wicked' was going to be at the town opera house; not so much!
The Whatnot Shop that we didn't dare walk in to!
This was the view down main street. We drove home around the back side of the Sandia mountains and stopped at our favorite little shop, Burger Boy and got a delicious soft serve ice cream cone. So good, it is worth the trip!

Play day at Hoot's

With the cold weather sticking around longer than we wanted, we have been trying to enjoy some indoor activities. We found a fun place called Hoot's that has an awesome playground and a whole bunch of inflatable slides. Jeff had the day off and came with us; seems as though he had as much fun as the boys!
It's always funny when we go to places like this during the week because Jeff is always the only dad there. He is such a fun dad that a lot of times we end up with a bunch of kids following us around.
The indoor playground is every mother's dream...there is one way in and one way out so the kids are in there for a while!

Even I went down the slide a few times hoping it might help get this baby out of me, but no such luck. 4 more weeks to go!

Rocky Mountain High

After years of hard work, months of studying for interviews, and weeks of waiting...we found out Monday that Jeff has matched with a residency in Denver! All of the stress and worry about even getting a spot, let alone where we would end up is finally over. Apparently there were over 100 students across the country that did not match that have to compete for 60 remaining spots at programs that did not fill; we feel very fortunate to have not been in this group. We're excited and anxious to move on and begin another chapter of our lives in a new place. We were laughing the other day that all of our children will have been born in different states (UT, CA, NM), and this will be our 6th move in the 8 years we've been married. Are you kidding me? However, this is one move we are happy to make.
