Volcano walk

Last week we finally saw the sun so Jeff took the boys for a little hike out to the volcanos. I am still not really sure what it is about dirt and rocks but the boys love it!
Trey at the top of the volcano with a great view of the Sandia mountains behind him.
Kaden trying to hide from the wind while at the top!

Unfortunately no hike goes without injury. As Kaden was coming down he slipped, hitting his head on a rock. With no tissues on hand Dr. Dad stuck his thumb over the gash to stop it from bleeding. A few minutes later between whimpers Kaden kept saying, "I'm fine, I'm fine." Luckily it was a small cut and he really was fine!

Mr. Who?

Trey has found the art of dressing up and some times it is a little hard to figure out who he is. Here we have a mix of Mr. Incredible meets pirates. He is also enjoying dressing up like Peter Pan, Rocky and pretty much anyone who carries a sword.

Lovin from the dutch oven!

The boys and I gave Jeff a dutch oven for Christmas to add to our camping gear but since it will be a while till we go camping we have been doing a little cooking out back. Jeff and Trey in the process of making apple cinnamon bread.

The boys love helping Jeff and think it is so cool to cook outside. I however did not appreciate smelling this delicious bread cook when I couldn't eat any of it but Jeff made up for it and the following week made a GF double chocolate cake. So yummy!!

Can't wait for summer!

We are getting sick of cold weather and being inside all the time. A few weeks ago we found an indoor pool for the boys and they loved it.
The boys had so much fun with the splash playground and can't wait for our pool to open!

Happy Valentines!

We had a wonderful Valentines weekend. Jeff and I got were able to go out Friday night; first time in 6 months! Then, Sunday morning we woke up to some great Valentines surprises!
Trey, overcome with joy about his new punching bags. He is training to be like Rocky!
Kaden thrilled about another bowling set. He would not stop playing with it all day and even enjoyed watching a bowling match on ESPN that afternoon!
We also enjoyed some wonderful pink waffles with strawberries and whip cream. Yummy!

Got Sleep?

For those that have slept anywhere near Trey know that he snores...and he snores loud. He has always had enormous tonsils so we have been working with our doctor to see if we can have them removed. Since he has never had strep throat, we had to put him through a sleep study to prove that he needs his tonsils taken out. So, last night he and Jeff had a little sleep over at the sleep center.
He wasn't too excited to go, and even when they got there Jeff had to drag him out of the car. I guess once they got inside he started to think it was pretty cool.
Once he realized how many sensors would be hooked up to him he still was not so sure about the whole thing.

By the time they got him all hooked up and in bed it was after 9:00 pm and Trey kept saying, "Daddy, I am so tired can I just close my eyes now?" I am still not sure how he slept with all those cords attached to him. The worst part was when the "sleep tech" came in this morning at 5:45 am, woke them both up to say the study was done, and it was time for them to go. So much for sleeping in! Hopefully we will find out in a few weeks what we need to do next!
As a side note, this little stinker has decided he is too big for naps and in his mind has already switched over to daylight savings and likes to get up just before 6:00 am. Good thing they are so cute!

Missing the Bay Area!

Having lived in NM for 8 months now, tonight we realized how much we miss living in the Bay Area. Despite the outrageous cost of living, there are so many great things to do and see. Below is just a small sample of what we have been missing including San Francisco and all the wonderful things to do in the city! In addition, there are many things we miss that are not pictured...great friends (you know who you are), a wonderful ward, Suzy Neves' truffles, beautiful green hills in the spring time, trips up north to Windsor, sunsets at Ocean Beach and so much more!
Warm, and cold, days at the beach!
Fisherman's Wharf! That seems like a funny thing to miss but we loved all the crazy people you see down there, the wonderful food, and who doesn't love the "Bush Man?"
IKEA and their delicious soft serve frozen yogurt! I love that store!
Johnny's Doughnuts in Lafayette!
Mountain biking in Redwood Park, the beautiful hills above Oakland!
'Nuff said!
Obviously there are a few things we don't miss. Coin Op laundry, paying $3.50 for a gallon of milk, being stuck in traffic, paying the bridge tolls, and paying to park everywhere, just to name a few! Luckily we get to go back for a visit this summer!
